About the Ives 5BB1 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" NRP ball bearing hinge
The Ives 5BB1 is a 5-knuckle, full mortise, ball bearing template hinge, standard weight, 4-1/2" x 4-1/2", in satin chrome (652/US26D) on steel. It is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.1 and A156.7 and UL listed.
Ball bearings between the knuckles carry the door's weight, which keeps the swing smooth and reduces wear compared with plain-bearing hinges. Template hinges match standard hinge preps in commercial metal doors and frames.
The non-removable pin (NRP) stops the pin from being knocked out when the hinge is on the outside of an out-swinging door. Most doors use three hinges; taller or heavier doors use more. Standard weight suits typical commercial doors, and heavy weight is usually chosen for high-frequency openings.
